The Vanda and Young production machine that powered so much of Australian rock's golden era found its most universally beloved moment here, a song that crossed every demographic and radio format when it dropped in 1977. That "Strictly Ballroom Edit" on the B-side has been virtually impossible to find outside of Luhrmann's 1992 film, making this pressing genuinely useful for collectors beyond its obvious visual appeal.
John Paul Young’s career reached global heights with the release of “Love Is in the Air” in 1977. Written by Harry Vanda and George Young, this disco-pop anthem became a worldwide phenomenon. The B-side features the ‘Strictly Ballroom Edit’ version which was the leading track in Baz Luhrmann’s film and hasn’t been released since 1992! This limited-edition 12” single is pressed on rose color, heart-shaped vinyl and arrives just in time for Sweetest Day!
