The Asthma Fast Facts for Parents and kids 6-11 years is a book designed to be used by parents, caregivers, teachers and other individuals to teach young children about asthma at home, school, church health sessions, group gatherings such as parties, fairs and anywhere else where learning about asthma is necessary and learning can be made fun. The book is designed to be used with or without supervision and can be given as a gift. The structure of the book with the activities and narrative will empower the child with tools for effective asthma management. It includes child friendly activities such as fill in the blanks, word puzzle, identifying triggers of asthma by pictures, a picture to find where dust mites are found in the bedroom. It addresses the treatment of asthma and the appropriate use of the inhalers, spacer and peak flow meter. It explains the use of the medical device called the Spirometry. Asthma Fast Facts contains an Asthma Action Plan that can be used to improve asthma management. It addresses exercise and asthma and how to take care of your body. It also includes a Childhood Asthma Control Test for the child to complete. The test result can indicate whether or not the child's asthma is under control. The asthma plan and test result can be discussed with the child's physician to improve asthma management. The 'Know your asthma words' page defines words associated with asthma and its treatment making 'asthma talk' easy to understand. With the continual review of the book, the child would improve asthma management skills which may result in fewer attacks and fewer interruptions in daily activities. The Asthma Fast Fact Book was written by Gracia Wheatley-Smith a pharmacist and graphic artist Kenya Jeffers of the British Virgin Islands.
