German melodic extreme metal act FAR BEYOND mark their return with their third studio album, The End of My Road, on February 16 via their new label home Prosthetic Records. FAR BEYOND™s latest full-length is an ambitious and fastidiously curated amalgam of melodeath, symphonic and power metal, covering themes of courage and heart in the face of depression and hardship.Formed in the early 2000s, FAR BEYOND is the solo project of Eugen Dodenhoeft. Based in the Franconian Switzerland region of Germany, FAR BEYOND™s history to this point has been one of slow and steady artistic progression with 2005™s An Angel's Requiem and 2016™s A Frozen Flame Of Ice albums showcasing Dodenhoeft™s penchant for seamlessly alternating dynamics of gothic and death metal symphonia.Lusciously complex by design, FAR BEYOND™s latest album shines in its songwriting structure. Across the eight tracks, Eugen compiled up to 30 layers of vocals, synthesisers and orchestral textures. Whilst a solo endeavour at its core, The End of My Road sees collaborative guitar solos from Nathram™s Lukas Grässlin as well as additional synthesiser embellishments from Ari Ahrendt on Tempus Fugit and the title track. The End of My Road was then placed in the hands of Patrick Stäudle of Glaswald Studios in The Black Forest, Germany.Furthering their quest to understand the complexities of the unknown and transcend beyond the unknown, The End of My Road™s contemplative atmospherics and concentrated sonic extremities merge seamlessly with a deft poetic touch. With Eugen adding: œThe End of My Road is my invitation to get lost in the sonic realms of FAR BEYOND and find a moment of peace and inspiration. I look forward to sharing this album with the world and hope that it touches the hearts of listeners, providing them with an unforgettable soundtrack for their own journey.
Upstarts Molder crawl out of the boneyard with renewed vengeance on their sophomore full-length Engrossed in Decay. For the uninitiated, the Joliet, Illinois-based quartet parlay old-school death metal vibes”think Impetigo meets Asphyx”with an insatiable present-day hunger. Comprised of Aaren Pantke (vocals/guitar), Dominic Vaia (bass), Kyle Pooley (Drums) and newcomer Carlos Santini (guitar), Molder™s primary goal isn™t to score deference points but to keep deathly flames alive. This is tried and true death metal with a palpitating (possibly undead) Midwestern heart. Between bong hits, Braindead marathons, and sarcophagus juice shots, Molder step out of the dark and into the light with Engrossed in Decay.

Australian one-man band Nekrasov continues to orbit between the two poles of Power Electronics and Black Metal, but the singular focus on otherworldliness remains consistent, and while the experience is challenging to the utmost, it is also ultimately rewarding.Nekrasov is reminiscent of some unhallowed Lovercraftian vault, where the dreamer meets his dream: the abyss of mind and space alike, where he compositionally depicts the hinges in the deep recesses of the mind, that only a visionary can uncover. Once revealed, it™s up to the listener on whether he or she can handle the outcome.

New Jersey™s SUNROT is preparing to release their first full length album under the Prosthetic Records banner. The Unfailing Rope is due on April 7 and comprises eight tracks of devastating sludge and noise - and promises to afford SUNROT the attention that they so richly deserve. At times The Unfailing Rope seemed to be a cursed project; recorded no less less than three times before hitting the jackpot with its final iteration, completing the record was a hard-fought battle. Vocalist Lex Santiago was hospitalised between the first and second recordings, suffering from a psychotic episode. Although it may have seemed like an albatross around their necks, The Unfailing Rope eventually provided salvation and catharsis for SUNROT in ways they had never anticipated. The Unfailing Rope sessions were captured by Scot Moriarty at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, New Jersey, and later mastered by Magnus Lindberg of Cult of Luna. The trial and error of earlier sessions led to a more precise execution of their vision, a more confident approach and a ultimately more live and organic sounding record than they™d originally anticipated. Their take on sludge is adrenalized by the addition of samples, noise and experimentalism. With guest musicians including Bryan Funck (Thou), Emily McWilliams (Silver Godling), and Blake Harrison (Pig Destroyer) adding embellishments to the core SUNROT sound the final result is electrifying. SUNROT is very much a product of its environment; The Unfailing Rope an anthology of the lived experiences of authors. From the micro to the macro, personal to political, every scar, every tale is etched into the fabric of The Unfailing Rope with unflinching detail. SUNROT keen to stress that for all of the trauma, loss and catharsis, joy is only just below the surface.
